Every loudspeaker brand claims their products are the best. It is easy to be overwhelmed by superlatives. They can’t all be right... However, anyone who has been to a hi-fi show quickly realises several things: There really are a lot of loudspeakers to choose from, but despite this there are surprisingly few design “themes”. Also, loudspeakers are the most variable part of the replay chain and however impressive they may look, a lot of them are distinctly disappointing.
Our central theme is improving the interface between the speaker and the listener, in their room. We are most interested in music in the home, particularly the natural reproduction of real instruments and voices. The ability to do this really well means our loudspeakers can also replay synthetically constructed music and film sound tracks – but for us this is incidental.
We try hard to be purist: Clarity of thought about what is
required leads to a simple, even minimalist design where
form follows function. Nothing is done that in any way
impedes performance (or bows to convention).
We have two main goals: First, to clearly explain our thinking,
how our speakers work and why they are different; providing
solid reasons for choosing them. Second, to hand-build our
speakers to the highest acoustic and engineering standards
so they offer a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
