About us: People

Paul Burton is the designer behind the OmniMon. He has been developing innovative loudspeakers for over 25 years: In the 1980s, in his naivety, he started out with a ‘modest’ project: A full-range dipole panel speaker. This actually worked and was patented. It became known as the Sumo Aria (later Museatex Melior). In the 1990s, he founded Sequence Design with a range of slim wall-mount loudspeakers including the world's first wall mount sub-woofer. Paul spent several years with NXT, first as a principal systems engineer, then as intellectual property manager. He was responsible for the Cyrus Icon, the first hi-fi speaker using distributed mode technology. He also led a team that developed the first TDK high performance computer sound systems. While at NXT he was an inventor on several patents and also headed the team that prepared the patent on Balanced Mode Radiators (BMR), among many others. Since leaving NXT in 2005, Paul worked as a design consultant, before turning to the creation of the OmniMon system.

Fiona Rountree is Rountree Acoustics’ business manager, overseeing financial and strategic planning, and handling supplier and press relations. With an interest in all things musical and visual, and a keen ear, she plays a major part in the complex subjective evaluation process during development work, as well as establishing and refining the visual side of product design.
