![]() Technology The OmniMon system is an omni-directional loudspeaker with a progressive shift to mono-polar radiation at higher frequencies. The intention is to increase the ratio of direct to reflected sound in a room in much the same way as when listening to real instruments, while maintaining key upper-mid and high frequency directional cues vital for stereo image, focus and detail. The design has two active sound sources: [1] A main pistonic omni-directional driver, radiating sound equally in all directions, working over the lower 2/3 of the audible spectrum. [2] A ribbon driver for focused mono-polar output over the upper 1/3 of the spectrum. The OmniMon has a very low mass cabinet storing minimal energy, giving the enclosure a minimal ‘sonic footprint’… a non-box sound. The system also has a very high mass, rigid mechanical ground for the main driver, dramatically increasing the mechanical integrity of the entire system. The OmniMon system is the subject of a patent (GB0718338.7 filed 20/10/07).
