Technology: Bass / midrange

We use modified Scanspeak Revelators. These are high quality long throw drivers, with exceptional midrange qualities. Features: Un-coated paper cones, slit-and-filled to damp resonances; Shorted-turn rings to reduce distortion; T-shaped centre poles to improve magnetic field symmetry; Double corrugated suspensions for large signal linearity. Rigid but open chassis.

The driver is inverted on the cabinet top to provide
360º radiation without the need for reflectors or lenses
seen on other omni-directional speakers. The inverted
driver has other benefits over conventional speakers:

• Extra self-attenuation (~6dB/oct) above 1kHz
  with a very smooth well-controlled natural
  roll-off.
  
  
• The driver’s response, particularly near the top
  of its range, does not vary with the listener’s
  position.
  
  
• The radiating source is only 6cm high, directly
  behind the ribbon, forming a small point source.
  
  
• Cone breakup resonances are directed mostly
  upwards, making them much less audible.
  
  
• The vertical response is very consistent, as
  the path length from the drivers varies little
  with height.
